Fiona

Hello! My name is Fiona!

Here’s what my friends at Española Humane say about me:

- Meet Fiona, a delightful 3-year-old calico with a heart of gold and a sprinkle of sass! This sweet girl has a unique personality-she loves attention but prefers to keep a safe distance, enjoying admiration from afar. Once a social butterfly, Fiona now appreciates a more tranquil environment, often swatting when she feels overwhelmed.

Fiona came to us with an injury on her inner back leg, but thanks to some swift care and treatment, she's healed beautifully. Though she may be a little more reserved these days, she still welcomes gentle pets and affection on her own terms. With her striking calico coat and charming demeanor, Fiona is a lovely companion for anyone who understands her need for space and serenity. Give her a chance, and you might just find a sweet friend in this enchanting girl!

If you’re interested in adopting me, fill out an application to get a jump start on the process! We don’t offer holds on shelter pets, so c’mon in to meet and greet to decide if you’ve met your match. Applications for pets in foster care, at Ojo Santa Fe, or offsite in other programs will be reviewed by staff before appointments are scheduled.

Adopt a Cat

We’ve got plenty of loving, entertaining purr factories. And a few cats who may hide, but will adore you when no one else is around. Click on a face below to learn more about that cat. No one? Well, check back with us because new cats arrive every day.

More Questions?

  • How much does it cost to adopt a pet?

Puppies and kittens range from $10 to $50. Adults over 6 months are usually free. Adoption fees will be higher for certain breeds and in some locations. For example, Ojo Santa Fe puppies are typically $150.

  • How do my adoption fees help the shelter?

Adoption fees help with medical care, food, and shelter for all animals, not just the youngest or cutest. Most of that expense is paid by our fundraising efforts.

  • How can I prepare my home for adoption?

It depends on your floof’s age and whether they’re a dog or cat. Check out our tips for preparing your home for your new pet. We provide you with a “starter kit” of a collar, pet food and treats.

Also learn about the 3-3-3 rule. It takes a new pet 3 days to calm down, 3 weeks to adapt to your family, and 3 months to bond and build trust. Don’t worry. We’ll have more details and other tips in your adoption package.

  • How do I become a foster parent?

It’s simple. Start by filling out a foster application and our team will contact you. Fostering can be as easy as having a litter of young ones in a spare bathroom before they go to an adoption event. Or, maybe you’d like an adult to spend time with your family, just to see how that pet transforms with a little love and attention. We promise it’ll be rewarding.
