A free walk-in vaccine clinic is set for May 4 at Española Humane.

Pets of residents of Espanola Humane’s service area only will receive free vaccinations thanks to Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative. The event will be held outside the shelter, 108 Hamm Parkway, Española, from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 4. No appointment is necessary. All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats must be in carriers.

Vaccines distributed through the Petco Love initiative include DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccines.

The series of free and low-cost vaccination clinics aim to keep pets healthy in the community. Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative provides 1 million free pet vaccines to its existing animal welfare partners, including Española Humane.

Parvovirus, distemper in dogs, and panleukopenia in cats are some of the most prevalent deadly diseases impacting pets that are preventable with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pets to a veterinarian annually for preventative care.
