A doggie “fashion” show will highlight a multi-shelter event Saturday at an Española pet store.

People are encouraged to register their dogs at 1 p.m. for the fashion show, which will start at 2 p.m. at Petsense, 1506 Riverside Drive, in the Lowe’s shopping area of Española.

The Aug. 6 adoption event features puppies, kittens and dogs and cats from both Española Humane and the Santa Fe animal shelter. It starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.

Participating Fashion Show dogs will walk the red carpet and compete for prizes, organizers said. The store is collecting pet food donations for Hill’s Clear the Shelter’s nationwide month-long adoption event. Customers who donate any Hill’s products receive a paw print or doghouse print to put up in the store with their name. The top five stores receive $1,000 to donate to the shelter of their choice.

All adopted pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and ready to go home to loving families. To get a jump-start on an adoption, start the application process at espanolahumane.org or sfhumanesociety.org.
