Española Humane is excited to partner with BISSELL Pet Foundation in its summer “Empty the Shelters” adoption event. Española Humane will offer reduced-fee adoptions from July 6 to July 31, 2023, as part of this national initiative to end pet homelessness.

During the Empty the Shelter event, all adoption fees for pets at the shelter will be waived – even for puppies and kittens! This special event pricing will run through July 31.

Since its inception in 2016, BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” has given second chances to nearly 158,000 pets at 669 animal welfare organizations across the United States and Canada. During each quarterly national event, an average of 1,200 shelter pets find loving homes.

BISSELL Pet Foundation is thrilled to collaborate with MetLife Pet Insurance, offering 30 days of pet insurance at no cost to adopters and the opportunity to purchase an annual pet insurance policy. This partnership aims to help adopters handle unexpected pet illnesses or injuries, ensuring more pets stay healthy and happy in their new homes.

“We are excited to partner with MetLife Pet Insurance to make a difference in the lives of pets and their adoptive families,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “This collaboration will enable more pets to find homes through ‘Empty the Shelters’ and provide adopters with access to vital medical care for their furry companions.”

The national adoption campaign is critical, as the shelter faces daily strains on dog and cat intakes. The number of intakes has increased more than 50 percent over last year, said Bridget Lindquist, the shelter’s executive director.

The Empty the Shelter adoption campaign highlights efforts to find loving homes for pets. With the increased demand for their services, adopting a pet from Española Humane creates space for another animal in need.

“If you are thinking of adopting, now’s the time,” Lindquist said. “Every adoption significantly impacts the lives of animals in our care. If you can’t adopt, consider fostering, volunteering, or donating to help us continue our mission.”

Both BISSELL Pet Foundation and Espanola Humane urge families to research the pet they wish to adopt and familiarize themselves with the adoption requirements.
