View Our Pets

Start the adoption process by browsing our available pets and selecting a floof that captures your heart. Make sure to fill out an adoption application so we know you’re interested in meeting that animal.

Visit Our Shelter

Come to the shelter, which is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm with the last adoption at 4:30 pm. Consider bringing pets already living with you, just to make sure everyone gets along. Some animals may be in foster care or at Ojo Santa Fe, so be sure to schedule a meet-and-greet

Adopt a Bestie

Once you’ve found a floof that fits your family, complete the adoption contract and, in many cases, pay a small adoption fee. Puppies and kittens are $50, while adults over 6 months are fee-waived. Adults over 6 months are usually free. Adoption fees will be higher for certain breeds and in some locations. For example, Ojo Santa Fe puppies are typically $150.

Check Our Event Calendar

We have regular adoption events in Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Española, generally on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. You can just show up, find a best friend, and go home right away.

More Questions?

  • How much does it cost to adopt a pet?

Puppies and kittens are $50 while adults over 6 months are fee-waived.

  • How do my adoption fees help the shelter?

Adoption fees help with medical care, food, and shelter for all animals, not just the youngest or cutest. Most of that expense is paid by our fundraising efforts.

  • How can I prepare my home for adoption?

It depends on your furry’s age and whether they’re a dog or cat. Check out our tips for preparing your home for your new pet. We provide you with a “starter kit” of a collar, pet food and treats.

Also learn about the 3-3-3 rule. It takes a new pet 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to adapt to your family, and 3 months to bond and build trust. Don’t worry. We’ll have more details and other tips in your adoption package.

  • How do I become a foster parent?

It’s simple. Start by filling out a foster application and our team will contact you. Fostering can be as easy as having a litter of young ones in a spare bathroom before they go to an adoption event. Or, maybe you’d like an adult to spend time with your family, just to see how that pet transforms with a little love and attention. We promise it’ll be rewarding.
