Binx

Hello! My name is Binx!

Here’s what my friends at Española Humane say about me:

- Binx may have arrived at the shelter in a feral trap, but she made it clear from the very beginning that she had no interest in living the feral life!

This sweet 2-year-old black and white girl was caught on the shelter property, likely after wandering onto the grounds where our community cats reside. Whether she was abandoned or simply found her way here on her own, we'll never know. What we do know is that from the moment she arrived, Binx wasn't shy about expressing her opinions. Rather than showing any aggression, she spent her time loudly vocalizing from inside the trap, seemingly demanding to be released so she could get the attention and pets she felt she deserved!

Since then, Binx has continued to show everyone what a loving and affectionate cat she is. She is curious about the world around her and absolutely adores being petted. In fact, she'd much rather spend time soaking up affection than chasing toys around the room. If you're looking for a cat who enjoys companionship and isn't afraid to ask for attention, Binx may be your perfect match.

Binx doesn't seem to mind the company of other cats, although very energetic kittens can make her a little nervous. As with any new pet introduction, a slow and closely monitored approach is important to ensure all animals feel safe and comfortable while getting acquainted.

Like many shelter pets, Binx may need some time to adjust to a new home and unfamiliar surroundings. With patience, understanding, and plenty of affection, she will gradually come out of her shell and settle into her new routine. Once she feels secure, you'll discover a sweet, loving companion who is always ready for a good petting session.

If you’re interested in adopting me, fill out an application to get a jump start on the process! We don’t offer holds on shelter pets, so c’mon in to meet and greet to decide if you’ve met your match. Applications for pets in foster care, at Ojo Santa Fe, or offsite in other programs will be reviewed by staff before appointments are scheduled.

More Questions?

  • How much does it cost to adopt a pet?

Puppies and kittens range from $10 to $50. Adults over 6 months are usually free. Adoption fees will be higher for certain breeds and in some locations. For example, Ojo Santa Fe puppies are typically $150.

  • How do my adoption fees help the shelter?

Adoption fees help with medical care, food, and shelter for all animals, not just the youngest or cutest. Most of that expense is paid by our fundraising efforts.

  • How can I prepare my home for adoption?

It depends on your floof’s age and whether they’re a dog or cat. Check out our tips for preparing your home for your new pet. We provide you with a “starter kit” of a collar, pet food and treats.

Also learn about the 3-3-3 rule. It takes a new pet 3 days to calm down, 3 weeks to adapt to your family, and 3 months to bond and build trust. Don’t worry. We’ll have more details and other tips in your adoption package.

  • How do I become a foster parent?

It’s simple. Start by filling out a foster application and our team will contact you. Fostering can be as easy as having a litter of young ones in a spare bathroom before they go to an adoption event. Or, maybe you’d like an adult to spend time with your family, just to see how that pet transforms with a little love and attention. We promise it’ll be rewarding.
