Hello! My name is Vida (Paws in the Pen)!

Here’s what my friends at Española Humane say about me:

- Vida is soon to be "paw-roled" from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in a 24/7 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.

Vida is by far the smartest pup from her group in the program. She is so willing to engage, and absolutely enjoys the work...and the treats probably don't hurt either! She loves to be involved, and will definitely vocalize how excited she is to see you! Vida is an energetic girl who will thrive in an active home. This smarty pants is ready to find her forever home, and knock your socks off with her skills!

We don’t offer holds on shelter pets, so c’mon in to meet and greet to decide if you’ve met your match. Applications for pets in foster care, at Ojo Santa Fe, or offsite in other programs will be reviewed by staff before appointments are scheduled.
